On Wednesday, August 21, 2019, Associate Professor Dr. Winai Dahlan, HSC Director and Khun Sompol Rattanabhibal, advisor to the Director welcomed Mr. Preeda Raimanee, an Islamic Affairs Committee member of Bangkok Metropolis. On behalf of the Office of Islamic Affairs Committee of Bangkok Metropolis, Mr. Preeda R. kindly granted a commemorative plaque of 2019 to the HSC Director. After that, the HSC Director kindly explained to Mr. Preeda R. the nature of work of the Center and added other useful information. Mr. Preeda R. also had an opportunity to tour the Halal Science Center.
On Tuesday, August 20, 2019, Ms. Sunainee Mahama an HSC senior scientist welcomed 40 Faculty members and students from Triamsuksawitaya School in Pattani who took a field trip to the Halal Science Center. Ms. Sunainee M. additionally briefed the visitors on Halal Science in general and on the nature of work of the HSC. The Faculty members and the students also had an opportunity to visit the HSC’s Halal Forensic Science.
On the auspicious occasion of the Coronation of King Rama X in 2019, ten representatives from the Halal Science Center joined Chula Executive Board, other Faculty members and students to plant 58,300 trees on campus on a project named “Chula Loves Earth” on Friday, August 9, 2019. Professor Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President of Chulalongkorn University presided over the opening ceremony at the hallway of Chamchuri 4 Bldg. The HSC representatives and other Faculty and staff members planted over 30 Crinum Lilies around the area at the back of Chamchuri 4 Bldg.
On Thursday, September 12, 2019, Associate Professor Dr. Winai Dahlan, the HSC Director and the HSC’s IMT-GT delegates headed by Khun Sulida Wangchi – advisor to the Director for International Relations and Finance and Procurement attended the 16th IMT-GT’s Chief Ministers’ and Governors’ Forum at the Sofitel, Krabi.
First, the delegation of each country reported the results of several project implementations in the designated provinces or states of the IMT-GT member countries. Furthermore, there was a discussion on the member countries’ collaboration to push forward the concepts of ‘Halal for All’ and Halal Branding’ to be part of the agenda of the Ayeyawady Chaophraya-Maekhong Economic Collaboration Strategy (ACMECS), a political, economic, and cultural organization among Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2019, Khun Sulida Wangchi, head of the HSC’s IMT-GT team together with Ms. Jasmin Manee and Ms. Angsana Ayukhen attended the 26th IMT-GT Senior Official Meeting (SOM) at the Sofitel Hotel, Krabi. The main discussion point was the development towards the Innovation Areas, which may enhance business capabilities in order that Halal products and services may be accessible to consumers through Smart Applications in response to the global market’s demand. The Thai delegation from the Halal Science Center has proposed two new projects named Blockchain and HAL Plus, which have been approved by the meeting.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2019, Associate Professor Dr. Winai Dahlan, the Halal Science Center Director, was invited to give a talk on a panel discussion titled “Indonesia Industry 4.0 and ASEAN Halal Perspective” at the 24th Food Ingredients Asia 2019 (FI Asia) at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center, Bangna (during September 11-13, 2019). Mr. Ongard Panyachatiraksa, advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, presided over the opening ceremony. On the panel discussion, Associate Professor Dr. Winai Dahlan gave a talk on “the H-number and Thailand’s Halal Initiatives.” There were over 80 Thai and international entrepreneurs attending the discussion.
The HSC Director also had an opportunity to discuss with Mr. Ongard Panyachatiraksa on future collaboration between the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, which may be supported by the Ministry, using Thailand’s capability in Halal Science, technology, and innovation to support the country’s Halal industrial sector to grow and reach higher potentiality.
On 19th August, 2019, Khun Manas Suebsantikul, advisor to the HSC Director, representing the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University, joined in congratulating the Minister of Commerce on the 99th anniversary of the Ministry’s establishment under the concept of the Ministry of Commerce 4.0 at the Burachat Chaiyakorn Room.
On Tuesday 20 August, 2019, Associate Professor Dr. Winai Dahlan, the HSC Director together with Police Major General Surin Palarae, the Secretary-General of the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand, Khun Sompol Ratanabhibal, advisor the HSC Director welcomed Mr. Aakif A. Wahab and M.j. Mohamed Fari from the Halal Accreditation Council, Sri Lanka.
The guests from Sri Lanka enquired the HSC Director about guidelines for obtaining Thailand’s Halal certification and potential cooperation with Thai government sectors to create awareness in Halal issues, and the role of the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University. After that, the two guests had an opportunity to visit the Halal Forensic Science Labs at the HSC main office and the Haram Museum at the HSC Suanluang Square Office.
On Wednesday 28 August, 2019, Associate Professor Dr. Winai Dahlan, the HSC Director, Dr. Pornpimol Mahamad, Head of the Academic Services and Research Division, several HSC scientists and staff members welcomed Dr. Ony Linda, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and four delegates from Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA (UHAMKA), Indonesia. The aim of this visit was to exchange useful information on Halal affairs. The UHAMKA visitors also presented a research proposal, requesting cooperation from the HSC on fatty acid profile test and analysis. Before leaving, Dr. Linda and the four delegates had an opportunity to visit the HSC’s Halal Forensic Science Labs at the HSC main office and the Haram Museum at Suanluang Square.
