On Wednesday 9, January 2019, the staff of the HSC-CU and the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand, the Office of the Islamic Central Committee of Thailand, and the Office of the Provincial Islamic Council in Chiang Rai together with several Islamic religious leaders visited Halal certified enterprises in Chiang Rai Province as follows:
The first team
The first team was led by an Islamic religious leader – Imam Yongyuth Wangnimin, together with two members of the Provincial Islamic Council in Chiang Rai – Lieutenant Tat Damrongmuang and Mr. Winai Pattararuangwilai, and an HSC scientist at Chiangmai Office– Miss Sulaiya Piamchaiwat.
The morning visit The third team visited a Muslim owned medium-scale enterprise named Suwirun Thai Tea Co. Ltd, comprising 50 employees. Some of the products already received Halal certification are dried green tea, Oolong tea, black tea, and dried herbal tea.
The afternoon visit The third team also visited a medium-scale enterprise named Paben Foods Co. Ltd., comprising 60 employees. Some of the products already received Halal certification are red curry paste and northern styles’ soup noodle curry paste and roasted curry paste (Khao Soi and Nam Ngiaw). The brand name of these products is Pa Noy.
The second team
The second team was led by Imam Ekamol Srisaman, Mr. Wichian Sirisitiwong, Mr. Rachapol Sritham, Khun Wattana Tayjawandee from the Provincial Islamic Council in Chiang Rai, and Miss Chitaporn Pratan – an HSC-CU scientist.
The Morning visit The second team visited H.R. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Royal Initiative of the Tea Oil and Plant Oils Development Center in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, which produces camellia oleifera seed oil and other plant oils. This factory produces good quality oils for consumption, cosmetics, remedies, and other by-products.
The afternoon visit The team visited Doi Kham Food Products Co. Ltd. The team visited the Second Royal Food Factory Mae Chan – the main factory producing products under the brand ‘Doi Kham.’ Some of the products already receiving the Halal certification are fruit juices, frozen fruits, and soy flour.
