The staff of the HSC-CU and the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand, the Office of the Islamic Central Committee of Thailand, together with several Islamic religious leaders visited six Halal certified enterprises in Nakorn Si Thammarat as follows:
The first team
The morning visit The first team led by Imam Danai Choomchuen, included Assistant Professor Dr. Wuttisak Pitsuwan, Mr. Danai Sopalang – members of the Provincial Islamic Council of Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Ms. Laddawan Pintong – an HSC-CU scientist. The team visited the Halal-certified kitchen at Maharaj Hospital, in which the patients’ food is served. This hospital’s kitchen has been audited for and already received Halal certification in all aspects such as the ingredients for patients’ food in general and for patients requiring food through nasogastric feeding tube.
The afternoon visit The team visited Mary and Dairy Products Factory. Mary and Dairy Products Factory is a small dairy products factory, receiving the milk from dairy farmers in Thailand. The factory, which has received the safety certificate from the Department of Public Health, the Ministry of Public Health, produces milk for school students and distributes the milk to several schools. The quality of the milk products produced by this factory has passed the criteria set. The team received a warm welcome from these two Halal certified enterprises.
The second team
The morning visit The second team led by Imam Sawat Yusuf – an Islamic religious leader, included Mr. Payoon Mala and Mr. Somjate Saelim – members of the Provincial Islamic Council of Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Miss Baddariyah Sohsansa – an HSC-CU scientist. The team visited Pickled Catfish Farm Women Group Association – a community enterprise group, which has already received Halal certification for two types of five star OTOP products – Pickled Catfish Packaging and Pickled Catfish in bottles.
The afternoon visit The team visited Kokai Bakery at Omkai Branch. Kokai Bakery, which is now in the process of requesting Halal certification, has 9 employees – two of whom are Muslims.
The third team
The third team was led by Imam Somsak Powan – an Islamic religious leader, included Mr. Saree Pattaranuntakul and Mr. Abdulfattah Rebkuankiam – members of the Provincial Islamic Council of Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Miss Pachaya Petcharoen, an HSC-CU scientist.
