Malaysia aims to become a global center of Halal, market value in 2010 reached 2.2 trillion U.S. dollars. This is included food products and non-food products such as drugs, chemicals, consumer goods, and clothing. Also, in services such as travelling, medical, finance and banking. Especially, in the part of food product excess of U.S. dollar 680,000 million. The Malaysian government held Halal Week annually. They invite stakeholders from all around the world included businessman, industrial people, academician and religion academician to Malaysia.
For this year, Malaysia’s Halal Week starts from 4-8 April, 2011 with the conference and halal international trade fairs at least four jobs held in Kuala Lumpur. One of them is the World Halal Research Summit 2011 which is the 4th Halal science and technology fair at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, organized by the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) of the Malaysian government. And also a competition of international Halal Science Research named World Halal Research Excellence.
In this occasion, scientist from the Halal Science Center cooperated with Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University has been selected two finalist for the award on April 7, 2011. The final result shows that among the 10 finalists research, CU won the best and the third award giving this honor award by Dato Sareeabdullah Bin Hadji Ahmad Badawi, he’s once hold position of Prime Minister of Malaysia and the one who build the country to Halal world.
University research has won the halal seafood industry by HAL-Q system, this system were developed by Halal Science Center. The system is integrated into the global Halal industry standard HACCP system in conjunction with the forensic investigation of halal. The results show the quality of Halal Food Industry in Thailand. The third award is collaboration with the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, study of parameters in laboratory science to evaluate animal treat before the process of slaughter, it shows how concern for animal welfare in Thailand.
Both awards have shown to society of International Halal Science, indicates Technology and Innovation of Halal became such an important indicators to measure the performance of each country in the Muslim world market. In Thailand, HSC-CU is the first institute in Halal Science and also the first of the world. Moreover, Faculty of Allied Health Science has shown to International Halal Science to realize the potential of the Halal Science in Thailand. As the slogan “Halal Science Thailand Signature” once again.
